Life sciences talent and strategic consultancy, RBW Consulting, has today announced the opening of a new office in Newcastle city centre which will establish its presence in the North East of England and form part of its wider expansion strategy.

RBW Consulting currently has two offices in the UK and a further three in the US. The expansion comes less than six months after the opening of their newest US office in San Diego.

Its new office will be based in The Catalyst, a building that is home to the National Innovation Centre for Ageing and the National Innovation Centre for Data, both centres hosted and funded by Newcastle University in partnership with the UK Government. The Catalyst is located on Newcastle Helix, a 24-acre development that brings together industry leaders, businesses, and top researchers into an internationally renowned innovation cluster.

A recruitment drive is already underway, with the aim of establishing an initial team of ten, but with the ambition to reach at least 25 staff as the Newcastle hub grows.

Richard Warren, Co-founder and CEO says, “This is an exciting time for the life science sector, witnessing accelerated growth and unprecedented levels of innovation. Our goal is to facilitate access to the talent the sector needs and partner on strategic development, to support this scaling up. Extending our current operations to become part of the thriving global centre for life science in Newcastle was a great opportunity for our business, and we look forward to playing an active role in this impressive ecosystem”.

Richard himself attended Newcastle University and retains close ties to the area. On recruiting for the new office, he says “The North East has a highly skilled talent pool, which we are excited to tap into, offering the opportunity to work internationally in the most exciting sectors. We are incredibly proud of the work we do in helping life science companies deliver life-enhancing work and we want to continue to grow the team with individuals whose values and purpose match our own.”

Jen Hartley, Director of Inward Investment, NewcastleGateshead Initiative, says “It’s been fantastic welcoming RBW Consulting to Newcastle and the exciting life science cluster that we have on Newcastle Helix.

“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the life sciences sector in our region has continued to innovate and attract investment and I know RBW Consulting’s presence will be a major asset to our offering. With close access to our world-class university talent pool and life science community in The Biosphere, I look forward to seeing them grow and thrive in our innovation quarter as they embed themselves into the North East.”

Cllr Joyce McCarty, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy at Newcastle City Council, says “The life sciences sector in Newcastle continues to go from strength to strength bringing innovative products to market and solving the challenges of today and tomorrow.

RBW Consulting is a brilliant addition to the eco-system supporting businesses to grow and thrive and creating jobs for local people as we recover from the pandemic.”
